Our Top Tips for a St. George’s Day Themed Menu, including a Delicious Dessert

As leaders in the field of dessert innovation and manufacture, this week’s blog offers our top tips for a themed menu for St. George’s Day.

On the 23rd April, the nation will come together to celebrate our patron saint of England. While our national day does not benefit from a bank holiday, it does present dining establishments with a great opportunity to showcase the finest English produce we have to offer.

Below, we have put together a delicious and typically English menu which we are sure your diners will adore.

Starter

As far as iconic English cheeses go, Stilton tops the leaderboard, so what better way to begin your themed menu than with a Stilton starter? Our Stilton and Broccoli Quiche (pg 75 of the catalogue) is always a popular option.

For the meat eaters, a selection of Small Pork Pies (pg 81) would complement the vegetarian offering sublimely.

Main

Beef remains England’s favourite meat option, and we are honouring this with a typically English main course option – Braised Beef and Kidney Pudding (pg 108). Don’t forget all the trimmings, with seasonal vegetables and a thick and tasty gravy to polish off the dish.

Dessert

There are many desserts which represent all that is English, however, here are two of our favourites to end the menu in style. Sticky Toffee Pudding is considered by many as a modern British classic, and is a mainstay in many restaurants throughout the country. Our Sticky Toffee Barcake (pg 62) is Destiny Foods’ take on this classic.

Could there be any patisserie more English than an Eccles cake? Perfect to accompany an after dinner coffee liquor and complete our seasonal and themed, St. George’s Day menu.
